XTerm Medical Dictionary 2.0.3

XTerm Medical Dictionary Editor's Review

XTerm Medical Dictionary is a digital compendium of medical words, abbreviations and acronyms.

The program's interface is spartan, but the program is very easy to use: there are three working modes. The first mode is 'Browse'. Anyone is accustomed to this mode: just enter the term you want to know about and the program will display the explanation on the right hand side of the program window. The second mode is searching by wildcards. The third mode is 'Definition': this means that perform whole word or case sensitive searches. The search results, in this case, will be a list of headers whose definitions contain a specific word or sequence of characters.

The program can create a history of the performed searches. Some articles contain links to Internet resources, in case you need a broader documentation.

Pluses:

Drawbacks / flaws: A major drawback is the fact that you can't add terms and definitions.

In conclusion: Although the user interface is not extraordinary, the program works quite well. The only thing I'm not sure of is the accuracy and completeness of the dictionary, but I believe this is another reason for you to download and try it.
